Sage 300 Discontinued in the UK
In the last week of August 2020 Sage announced that Sage 300 ERP would be no longer be available in the UK and Ireland from the end of 2021, and that no new software sales will be made from the end of 2020 (including new users and additional modules).
The reason given was that it does not fall into their plans for “delivering the right solutions for their customers” which ensures that they provide the “very best support and innovation for their customers”.
The product is not being discontinued globally, it is just no longer available in the UK.
Sage have given the following timeline for retiring Sage 300;
Jul 2020: Sage 300 2020 R2 released
Nov 2020: Sage 300 2020 R3 released (subject to change)
Dec 2020: End of sale date: for all attributes e.g. users and new sites - 31/12/2020
May 2021: End of upgrade processing
Dec 2021: End of support to UKI Partners & customers

Sage 300 is no longer supported from the end of 2021. Sales of users etc will be discontinued from the end of 2020. As long as you have upgraded to 2019 then you are supported to 2021, if you haven't upgraded you should do so. From Jan 2022 onward the system will still work, however we believe it would be wise to start thinking about changing systems in 2021. It will take you a few months to confirm your choice and approximately 3 months to implement. You don't want any of this to coincide with your busiest trading times, so it's important to take this into consideration.
The short answer is FUNCTIONALITY.
Any move from Sage 300 to another Sage product is not going to give you any additional built in features.
Whatever you move to will be a full system move/implementation, there is no simple upgrade path by staying with a Sage system. In our opinion Acumatica is the closest fit for the types of businesses that are using Sage 300 and is an excellent product.
As we said above even if you chose to stay with a Sage product there is still a full scale implementation and data migration to be completed. At Tascoli we have years of experience in both Sage 300 and Acumatica and are best placed to handle the implementation and data migration of your new system.
It will take you a few months to confirm your choice of new system and approximately 3 months to implement. You don't want any of this to coincide with your busiest trading times, so it's important to take this into consideration.
Of course there will be costs involved in moving to a new system. We believe that most of our clients on Sage 300 were already considering a move in the next 2 years and the notice period that Sage have given will give companies a chance to put this into their budget.
Our choice for the market is Acumatica Cloud ERP. It is a purely web based application and our clients who have moved to it are pleased and have achieved efficiencies and time savings. Acumatica has named user pricing up to 10 users, for those who only use financials, and unlimited user pricing after this.
